The State of the Blog

We launched No Stone Unturned on May 21st 2012. In 225 days we amassed some pretty cool statistics Here are my favorites:

– 42 blog posts in 33 weeks (a little better than my 1 post/week goal for 2013)

– 68 fabulous pictures of wonderful fossil-y things from the Burpee Lab and Field sites.

– 3900 views – that’s an average of 17 views a day!

– Views from readers in 39 different countries – we’ve been read on every continent except Antarctica! (That is views from: Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Ireland, United Kingdom, Finland, Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Serbia, Algeria, Kenya, India, Qatar, Russia, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, French Polynesia, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Turkey, and the United States of America!)

That is a pretty good run for a blog that isn’t even a year old yet!

However, we do have a little growing-up to do. The only area that we are (sorely) lacking in is comments. So, please, if you liked the post, have a comment or question post it in the “Comments” section at the end of that post and we will reply (or other commentors might chime in …) as soon as possible.

  1. Give it time. My blog wasn’t doing so well when i first started it 3 years ago. Now it has garnered almost 43,000 hits! As you add more content and talk about an expanding number of topics you get more and more hits. I average 50-60 views a day; and I’m just some random fossil nerd. You’re a major museum making fantastic discoveries! Look how well you did with your short, sporadic posts. So just give it time. I’m confident this blog will take off!

    • Thanks for your kind comments, Doug! Its always good to hear a success story. We will definitely keep posting away – and yes, on a wider variety of topics – this year and on into the future. Thanks again!
