Burpee Field Crews are in their second week of excavations at the Hanksville-Burpee Dinosaur Quarry in Hanksville, Utah. Last week, crews had just uncovered the first elements of a rare Late Jurassic Ankylosaur; more elements have been found, check out the Burpee Museum Facebook page for more details! Crews are also offering tours of the Hanksville-Burpee Dinosaur Quarry as part of the museum’s Jurassic Journey: Live and Online project.
Jurassic Journey: Live and Online encourages people to explore the site in person if they have the opportunity to do so, but also provides an online exploration tool so that people can virtually visit the site. The online site, jurassicjourneyonline.com, guides visitors through each of the stops on the live tours with text and images. As the field crew members return from the field, the site will be updated with new photo galleries to illustrate the progress made each season.
Check out the Jurassic Journey Online site and take a virtual tour around the Hanksville-Burpee Dinosaur Quarry!
